I knew it’d be an emotional episode, it was an emotional episode and I’m one I’m extremely proud of. NYPD Detective Roy Ruland is a warrior and trooper who despite the many tragedies he has endured remains committed to helping others. It was an honor to interview him and I present the following story without further comment because it does not require any.

The night of May 19, 1997, when his partner and best friend Police Officer Anthony Sánchez was shot and killed in the line of duty in Detective Ruland’s own words.
