Mic’d In New Haven Highlights: Retired FDNY Chief on Professionalism

“If you want to be treated like a professional…you have to act the part of a professional.”

This applies to all aspects of the workforce, especially however, with a paramilitary organization of such a reputation as the New York City Fire Department.

Having represented that organization for 43 years, Deputy Chief Steve Kubler most certainly understood that, and the importance of professionalism was one he saw demonstrated routinely through deed and action by one of his earliest fire officers, Joe Rabando. It guided him then as a new firefighter and later for many years as an experienced fire officer.

Great to profile the Chief for Volume 43 of The Best of The Bravest: Interviews With The FDNY’s Elite.

Outro Song: The Steve Miller Band – Space Cowboy (1969)
