Mic’d In New Haven Highlights: Retired NYPD Detective on Helping Form NY FEMA Team

When you look at the capabilities of New York’s FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Task Force 1, a calling card of the crew is its diversity of talents from both the FDNY Rescue Squads & NYPD Emergency Service Unit. At a time when tension pushed both elite units apart, it was men like the late Ray Downey, Bill Guston, and Mike Corr that were willing to reach across the aisle and work together.

The concepts and creations for what’s become such an essential rescue squad formulated through pencil and paper in Chief Downey’s living room. Excellent getting to talk with Mike for Volume 33 of The E-Men: Inside The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit.

Outro Song: Paul Carrack – Don’t Shed A Tear (1988)
