Joining the New York City Fire Department in 1968, you can truly say his career was diverse. Not only did he experience different eras across his nearly 40 years on the frontline with the FDNY, he experienced a plethora of different companies. Ladder 110, Ladder 3-Recon, Engine 207, Rescue 2, the Third Division, the First Division, the Safety Battalion, Chief of Operations, and Chief of Department to top it all off. Yeah, I’d say he’s seen a thing or two!
Who am I talking about? Chief of Department Pete Hayden of course who’ll join me for Volume 45 of The Best of The Bravest: Interviews With The FDNY’s Elite. A special thanks goes out to my friend NYPD Emergency Service Unit Lieutenant Keith Gallagher who played a pivotal role in helping this interview come to fruition. He won’t want the credit, but I’d be remiss not to acknowledge him. He deserves it.
