He’s had his tentacles in many different places throughout his 30 years in public safety. The most notable place you can say he made a mark was with the NYPD and more specifically the 8 years he spent in its Emergency Service Unit.
Having arrived to ESU in 1998, he’d work Brooklyn in Truck 6, and got a dose of Hollywood in Truck 1. A veteran of both sides of ESU, he was both a police officer and later boss in the unit, having made Sergeant in August 2001, just a month before ESU and the NYPD’s most devastating day. He’s John Scrivani, it’s been a long time coming to get him on and he’ll join me for Volume 36 of The E-Men: Inside The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit.
