For 14 years (1983-1997) his career in law enforcement was local. Starting out as a policeman in Massachusetts, he eventually became a Detective Sergeant in a Drug/Gang Task Force.
That wasn’t all though as in 1997 he’d move to the federal side of law enforcement joining the FBI, where for the next 22 years he’d work many notable investigations, including counterterrorism as a member of both the Evidence Response Team and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
He’s retired Special Agent Tom O’Connor and he’s the guest for Volume 8 of The Beat: Profiles of Police Nationwide.
