Having served in the military and fought in the Gulf War in that timeframe, I guess you can say patrolling the streets of Harlem was tame by comparison.
During his patrol years, his precinct was the 3-2 in Harlem AKA the ‘Tomb of Gloom’, the NYPD Precinct which sadly has the most line of duty deaths in the department’s history.
Staying in Harlem, he’d go to Emergency in 1991 and stay until 2006 when he retired. Still active in law enforcement, he’s currently a trooper with the New Hampshire State Police and that for Volume 38 of The E-Men: Inside The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit is retired NYPD Detective Seth Gahr.
