FDNY Deputy Chief on Rescuing Driver From Sanitation Truck Dangling Three Stories Above Ground

That’ll leave a dent! While Murphy’s law is applicable everywhere, it seems to have its own set of rules for New York City. None more so than this rather unique occurrence on August 17, 2011 when a sanitation truck driver for reasons unknown plowed his truck through the third floor garage of a Queens Facility.

Battle tested and having the ‘been there’ factor, Deputy Chief Donald Hayde and his men got to work, saving the driver, and saving the dangling truck from causing anymore damage below.

One of many good stories I heard for Volume 54 of The Best of The Bravest: Interviews With The FDNY’s Elite.
