Joining the NYPD originally in 1985, he’d work across a variety of units. From his start as a beat cop in the 88th Precinct in Brooklyn, to the Brooklyn North Task Force, and Special Operations as a member of the elite Street Crime Unit. He stayed in SOD and went to another elite part of it of course with the Emergency Service Unit.

It was while with the NYPD that he was able to acquire multiple degrees and pivoted over to the other side of law enforcement. Working a wide array of cases he’s been a prosecutor in both Brooklyn & Staten Island and that for another volume, 42 to be exact, of The E-Men: Inside The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit is Mr. Tom Ridges
