For 45 years he was hands on across multiple different roles in the fire service. Having begun his career in the volunteer corps in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 1973, he’d work 17 years there before a 1990 arrival to Chesterfield, Virginia. In the ensuing 28 years he’d work for the paid fire department there, working his way up to the rank of Deputy Chief.
Among his many accomplishments was becoming one of the department and country’s leading voices on HazMat, serving as Chairman of the NFPA’s Hazardous Materials Committee. Joining me for the debut of a new miniseries titled The Best of The Bravest: Nationwide Edition is Deputy Chief Rick Edinger.
