Never had an LAPD officer before. Always wanted to and finally for The Beat miniseries, I get my shot. Who am I speaking with? Both in the public sector and private sector he has instructed on the importance of proper tactics. What makes him an expert? 33 years as a police officer on the streets of Los Angeles. About as good an expertise as you could have. A veteran of many different assignments across his tri-decade run with the LAPD, including 6 years in the 77th Street Division, another 6 in K-9, and 19 more in the Air Support Division, there’s many a Hollywood tale he can tell and unlike the movies, it’s all the real thing. Though 2016 saw him retire from the beat, his career as an instructor is still ongoing with no end in sight and that for Volume 10 of The Beat: Profiles of Police Nationwide will be retired LAPD Officer Jack Schonely.
