In 27 years on the job with the New York City Police Department (1995-2022), David Sarni was a detective for 23 of them. He’s seen many things both good and bad and as a former instructor in the detective bureau’s training unit, that wisdom is one that even in retirement he isn’t shy to impart. The main thing? Burnout. A common problem in first response, it can eat up even the best. Something Dave witnessed, managed to avoid, and as he astutely shared here, wants other aspiring sleuths to avoid as well. Very good having him for Episode 334 of the Mic’d In New Haven Podcast.
