Every crime scene is an education. For coroners and cops alike, it represents the ultimate puzzle of human life. Few understand that as well as Barbara A. Butcher, who spent 23 years investigating deaths of all sorts with the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office.
Coordinating as often as she did with the NYPD, it became an essential component to answering the why’s of each death. Coroners need cops, cops need coroners. I don’t think anyone could’ve stated that as eloquently as she does here.
