The New York City Police Department for all intents and purposes is an agency of prestige. One of its most prestigious positions is therefore that of Chief of Detectives. For Bob Boyce, it’d been a 30 year buildup to the defining moment of a career filled with them. Busy precincts in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan laid the groundwork for what then-Commissioner William Bratton asked of him: to lead the greatest detectives in the world.
