He dedicated three decades to law enforcement, starting his career in 1990 with the old NYC Transit Police during the Safe Streets Safe City initiative. From patrolling the streets of the Bronx and Harlem to working in the Transit Special Operations Vandal Squad, he quickly rose through the ranks. Promoted to Sergeant in 1999, he served in various leadership roles in the 48th Precinct, eventually leading detective squads in the Bronx. His expertise in investigations culminated in his position as the XO of the Arson Explosion Squad, where he worked closely with the NYC ATF Arson Explosives Task Force. And that for Volume 38 of Tales From The Boom Room: Profiles of The NYPD’s Arson & Explosion and Bomb Squad is retired NYPD Sergeant Steve Mancini.
