He has spent half a lifetime battling the red menace. A Long Island native, his career originally started out in Alexandria, Virginia where for 9 years he worked as a fireman before coming home to New York & joining the FDNY, working primarily in Rescue 1 as well as FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Team 1. In addition to his service as a New York City firefighter, he lent a hand to his community in Suffern, serving as the Chief of Operations for Suffern Hazmat and that will be Joel Kanasky for Volume 63 of The Best of The Bravest: Interviews with The FDNY’s Elite.
