Just as important as the FDNY’s firefighting component of operations for the five boroughs of New York City is its EMS component.

A division staffed by some of the most unsung first responders on the planet since its merger into the Fire Department in 1996, Chief Jay Swithers, a near 40-year veteran of both the old New York City EMS & the New York City Fire Department was a great guest to shed light on not just in the field operations, but the logistics and administrative aspects of FDNY EMS.

A big thank you to the Chief, and to all boots on the ground EMS members doing a thankless job in a metropolis on steroids. An educational Volume 64 of The Best of The Bravest: Interviews with The FDNY’s Elite
