Retired NYPD ESU Detective on The Proper Approach To Tactical Apprehensions

In the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit, the service can be anything. A rescue on a pin job here, protection for a dignitary there, and of course the tactical assignments. Getting the perp is never easy because the formula changes with the circumstances of each job.

Plus, you’re in hostile territory on the suspect’s own terf. As 15-year veteran E-Man Gary Grisolia explained, it’s in the approach and, the tone in commands that dictates how these jobs will or will not go. Thank you to Gary for being such a terrific guest for the milestone Volume 50 of The E-Men: Inside The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit.

This will be the final edition of Mic’d In New Haven for an extended period as I prepare to enter Fire Academy. I thank everyone for the support and look forward to seeing you all soon with brand new episodes and ideally a brand new career to match.
