Along the way, he commanded some of the city’s busiest companies, boroughs, and divisions—earning a reputation as a calm, capable, and highly respected leader. His steady hand guided the department through fires, storms, and the COVID-19 pandemic, and his legacy is one of both tactical expertise and institutional strength.
