When retired NYPD Emergency Service Unit Officer Carl Russo picked up an animal job in Brooklyn, he didnât expect to walk into a scene out of a horror movie â blood on the walls, a man cornered with a steak knife, and a 15-foot Burmese python lunging to attack.
With his ESU partners Kenny Richardson and Chris Ryan, Russo jumped into action. The massive snake wrapped itself around one officerâs leg before Russo made a split-second decision â grabbing an axe and ending the threat to save the manâs life.
Only afterward did they learn the unbelievable backstory: the snake had turned on its owner during feeding time. It took two garbage pails to remove the animal from the scene.
This unforgettable story, told in Volume [insert number if you wish] of The E-Men: Inside the NYPDâs Emergency Service Unit on Micâd In New Haven, captures the chaos, danger, and unpredictability that ESU officers face on any given day.
Outro Song: Metallica – King Nothing (1996)
