
Early morning, June 5, 1995 — two subway trains collide on the Williamsburg Bridge, leaving one motorman dead and more than fifty passengers injured. It was a disaster that tested the limits of coordination between New York City’s emergency services and transit system — and proved the strength of the bond between police and fire on the line.
Joining me for Volume 2 of The Best of Both Badges are retired NYPD Emergency Service Unit Officer José Guerra and retired FDNY EMS Emergency Specialist Chris Ebdon, two first responders who worked the scene that morning.
