This week on Mic’d In New Haven, it’s The Best of The Bravest — and my guest is one of the most respected names in Rescue operations: Chief Fred LaFemina.
With a fire service career spanning nearly four decades, Chief LaFemina rose from Brooklyn engine and ladder companies to lead the legendary Rescue 1 — and later served as the Chief of Rescue Operations for the FDNY. His career reflects technical mastery, operational leadership, and coordination at the highest levels of the job.
Beyond New York City, he also played a critical role within FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue system — deploying across the country as a Task Force Leader and Operations Chief during major disasters.
Fireground experience. National-level command. A lifetime in Rescue.
That’s Chief Fred LaFemina, on The Best of The Bravest: Interviews with the FDNY’s Elite — only on the Mic’d In New Haven Podcast.
