This week on Mic’d In New Haven, it’s Best of The Bravest: Interviews with The FDNY’s Elite — and my guest is Chief Joe McHugh.

Chief McHugh built his career the traditional way — starting as a volunteer firefighter as a teenager, getting on the FDNY in the early 1990s, and working his way up through the ranks of one of the busiest fire departments in the world. From Ladder Company 25 to Ladder 41 and Ladder 10, and later into Division command and the Safety Battalion, his career saw him rise from firefighter to Battalion Chief, taking on both operational and safety leadership roles during a long career in the FDNY.

After nearly three decades on the job, he returned to where it all began — becoming Fire Chief in Greenwich, Connecticut.

That’s Chief Joe McHugh, on Best of The Bravest: Interviews with The FDNY’s Elite — only on the Mic’d In New Haven Podcast.
