In Episode 419 — Volume 25 of The Beat: Profiles of Police Nationwide, retired Rhode Island Lieutenant Sean Carroll recalls a wild overnight heroin bust that nearly turned into a full-on ambush — until help came from the most unlikely source imaginable.

A notorious street figure known as “Boogie Brown” later revealed he stopped a group from jumping Carroll during the fight because years earlier, the young officer had treated him with respect when others didn’t.
