This week on Mic’d In New Haven, my guest is retired Transit Police and NYPD Sergeant Stu Friedman.

For more than two decades, Stu policed New York City during one of its most turbulent eras. Beginning with the Transit Police in 1974, his career took him from uniform patrol to anti-crime, undercover robbery investigations, major case investigations, the Warrant Division, and ultimately the Bronx Homicide Task Force following the merger with the NYPD.

Along the way, he survived multiple shootings, earned the prestigious Transit Police Combat Cross, helped bring organized crime figures and cop killers to justice, and responded to some of the city’s most significant incidents before retiring as a sergeant in 1996.

It’s a career defined by courage, resilience, and some of the toughest police work New York has ever seen.
