(WEDNESDAY, 6PM)
This week on Mic’d In New Haven, it’s another volume of The Best of The Bravest: Interviews with The FDNY’s Elite — and my guest is retired FDNY Firefighter John Walters.
John’s fire service journey began as a volunteer with the Port Washington Fire Department in 1986 before he was appointed to the FDNY in 1995. Starting out in Engine 237 in Bushwick, his career would eventually take him into some of the department’s most specialized companies — first as a member of the newly formed Squad 288 and later earning an assignment to the legendary Rescue Company 1.
But his commitment to the fire service didn’t end when he retired in 2008. John became a founding member of Sons of the Flag, today known as Beyond the Burn, and continues giving back through his involvement with the FDNY Never Forget Golf Outing.
Engine. Squad. Rescue. And a commitment to the fire service that continues long after leaving the firehouse.
That’s retired FDNY Firefighter John Walters, on The Best of The Bravest: Interviews with The FDNY’s Elite — only on the Mic’d In New Haven Podcast.
