Mic’d In New Haven Podcast – Episode 438: Detective Mike Moy – Bad To Blue

This week on Mic’d In New Haven, my guest is retired NYPD Detective Mike Moy, whose journey from the streets of New York City’s Chinatown to the ranks of the NYPD is unlike just about any other I’ve featured on this program.

In 1986, Mike joined the notorious Fuk Ching gang, beginning a chapter of his life that would eventually stand in remarkable contrast to the badge he would one day wear.

On June 30, 1995, he joined the NYPD, beginning a 26-year career that took him from uniform patrol in Brooklyn’s 66th Precinct to becoming a detective in that same command and later serving with the department’s Asian Hate Crime Task Force.

But Mike’s story didn’t end when he retired in 2021. He’s since taken his experiences to YouTube, authored his 2025 memoir, Bad to Blue, and ventured into acting, including a role in an upcoming Peacock crime series.

From gang life to law enforcement. From the streets of Brooklyn to the world of publishing and entertainment. It’s a story of transformation, second chances, and a life lived on both sides of the law.

That’s retired NYPD Detective Mike Moy, on the Mic’d In New Haven Podcast.
