(MONDAY, 6PM)
This week on Mic’d In New Haven, it’s another volume of The Best of The Bravest: Nationwide Edition — and my guest is Kearny Fire Department Captain Matt Mitchell.
Matt’s journey in the fire service began as a volunteer firefighter in Dumont, New Jersey, before making the jump to the career side of the job with the Kearny Fire Department.
For the past 21 years, he’s served the Town of Kearny, spending the majority of his career assigned to Engine Company 1. After years riding the backstep as a firefighter, Matt was promoted to Captain, a rank he’s held for the past decade, eventually returning to Engine 1 as its company commander.
From his beginnings as a volunteer to more than two decades of career firefighting, Matt’s story is one of dedication, experience, and leadership in the firehouse.
Twenty-one years on the job. Ten years as a Captain. And a career largely spent in the same engine company, first as a firefighter and later as its commanding officer.
That’s Kearny Fire Department Captain Matt Mitchell, on The Best of The Bravest: Nationwide Edition — only on the Mic’d In New Haven Podcast.
