“I’m getting shot at. I didn’t know what to do.”
In this Mic’d In New Haven highlight, a planned raid turns into a full-scale firefight almost immediately after officers force their way through the door.
Gunfire erupts from inside. Officers begin returning fire. One weapon jams. In the confusion and crossfire, he is shot in the foot, while another officer beside him is struck in the leg.
Only 24 years old and recently married, he suddenly finds himself pinned between a wall and the doorway, trying desperately to get clear as rounds continue coming out of the building.
He eventually manages to get outside — but the chaos isn’t over. As he reaches safety, another officer who doesn’t recognize him initially believes he’s the bad guy.
