This week on Mic’d In New Haven, my guest is retired NYPD Detective First Grade Paul Morrison, whose nearly four decades on the job took him from the streets of the Bronx to investigating some of New York City’s most disturbing crimes.

Sworn into the NYPD in 1984, Paul began his career in patrol and Anti-Crime, surviving multiple armed confrontations along the way, including one that earned him the prestigious NYPD Combat Cross.

His career would eventually take him into Organized Crime, precinct detective squads, and ultimately the Bronx Special Victims Squad, where he became the lead detective in the years-long investigation of the serial sexual predator known as the “Knock-Knock Rapist.”

It’s a case he now chronicles in his book, Knock-Knock, detailing the painstaking investigative work behind the pursuit of one of the Bronx’s most notorious serial offenders.

Along the way, Paul rose to Detective First Grade while also becoming a longtime leader within the Detectives’ Endowment Association, advocating for the men and women of the NYPD’s detective ranks.

Nearly 40 years on the job. A decorated detective. And a career spent pursuing some of New York City’s most dangerous criminals.

That’s retired NYPD Detective First Grade Paul Morrison, on the Mic’d In New Haven Podcast.
